M as in Monkey is a fabulously fun family game through which players gain skills with respect to letters, spelling, words, memory, and problem-solving. 26 double cards and 26 square tiles are included, each of which displays either a letter or an object. Setup involves dealing each player several double cards apiece, face up, and the 26 square tiles are spread around the table, face down. On each turn, one player flips over a square tile, and, if it matches one of their double cards, places it on top of the card's empty half. The player's turn continues, flipping and matching tile after tile, until a match cannot be made. The unmatched tile is returned to the table, face down, and it is the next player's turn. MATCHES: In order to match a double card displaying a letter, a tile must bear the same colors and a picture of an object that starts with that letter. A double card showing a picture can only be matched by a tile that shows the first letter of the object in the picture. Thinking in 'both directions' in this manner helps develop a strong facility for the connections between images and words and between letters and sounds. For 2 to 6 players.
