This game for the LeapPad Learning Tablet does a fabulous job of interweaving an exciting storyline, rapid-fire action, and science learning. In their mission to rescue the trapped Energy Buddies (without whom the world as we know it has gone dark), kids navigate their onscreen Jetpack Hero through treacherous terrain, engaging enemy forces and collecting atomic elements along the way. The hero's jetpack is powered by molecules, and when power runs low, kids must build molecules to gain more fuel, learning about states of matter, molecular formulas, and ways in which specific molecules are used. Kids must stay keenly aware of their hero's onscreen surroundings and use quick reflexes to stay out of harm's way while collecting elements and power ups. This develops their fine motor skills and spatial awareness while teaching them about 27 different molecules, all in the midst of thrilling, highly absorbing fun and games.
