It's not often you find kids fully engrossed, mentally engaged, and happy to be learning, but HearBuilder accomplishes that feat. In truth, kids may not realize they're learning, because the software is organized and presented so playfully. In other words, it's fun. HearBuilder Series consists of four CD-ROM educational software programs designed to help students improve their listening and memory skills. As a result, kids find themselves deeply absorbed in a highly enjoyable learning process. The four programs each have a distinct focus and can either be purchased as a set ($499.80) or as follows: Phonological Awareness ($149.95) includes nine activities in which children learn to segment, blend and manipulate words, syllables, and sounds. Following Directions ($99.95) helps students improve auditory processing of verbal directions, gaining knowledge of concepts in five key areas. Auditory Memory ($149.95) helps students practice and develop auditory memory for numbers, words, details, as well as closure and comprehension skills. Sequencing ($99.95) targets comprehension and critical thinking skills, with students starting off by ordering simple two-step sequences and progressing to six-step sequences. Each of the programs is progressive in nature, organized in such a way that the child moves fluidly from one level to another. HearBuilder is extremely easy to navigate, and each disc comes with its own full-sized instruction booklet. Tracking the student's progress is made simple via easily accessible onscreen progress reports.
