CWIST is a free website parents use as a means of providing high quality activities (both physical and educational) for their children to do and, more importantly, the motivation to do them. Kids use CWIST because it's fun. In the dashboard, parents add to their account the children who will be participating and then can assign to any of those kids a cwist. A cwist is, among other things, an educational, community service, or outdoor activity to be completed. There is quite a library of cwists to choose from on the website, as well as a library of rewards (called wishes), and parents can create their own cwists and wishes. Indeed, those libraries are a growing crowd-sourced collaboration between parents and educators, to the benefit of all. Typically the parent chooses the cwist, the child the accompanying wish that will be received upon completion of the cwist. Having a system of rewards that can range from purchasable items to something as simple as a sleepover or dinner out can work wonders in motivating a child. Having them laid out prettily onscreen adds more than a bit of magic to the equation, and using the website itself becomes a form of constructive entertainment for both parents and children.
