The colorfully illustrated game board provides a focal point for players to gather around in a race to reach the Magic Tree house first and thus win the game. And while rolls of the dice, the draw of an activity card and two different spinners introduce luck-related randomness to each player's progress, skill in acting out words and interpreting others' physical cues are the greatest determining factors in who will win and lose. Among Elf Charades' many fine features is the collaborative nature of the scoring: both the player doing the charade and the first player to correctly guess the word share in winning the round and get to move forward on the board based on additional rolls of a die. The aforementioned spinners keep things perpetually fresh by changing up which parts of the body may be used in acting out clues during each round.
