After being dealt 14 cards apiece, players take turns guessing if the card they are about to flip is higher or lower than the one currently atop the center pile. The cards range in value from 1 to 15 and are adorned with quirky, playful illustrations that bring the phrase "fowl play" to mind. A player who guesses correctly collects an ear of corn from the table, while an incorrect guess requires putting an ear of corn back. Most players have an intuitive sense of probabilities that steers their guesses, but improbable things (such as flipping a two when the prior top card was a three) happen all the time, leaving players to gasp with frustration or shout with joy when the unexpected occurs.
