Target

Target

This fantastic card game makes for fast-moving fun, and its educational benefits are substantial. Target helps kids develop mathematical aptitude and a facility for quick mental calculations. The goal is to use from 3 to 5 number cards from your hand to form an equation whose value matches the number on a card just flipped. The equations can involve one or more operations spanning addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and, when needed, parentheses. Since the object is to be the first player to make a valid equation (and thus win the target-number card), creating simple equations, when possible, can be a playing-field-leveling advantage since more elaborate equations tend to take more time to formulate. In addition to the Classic Version of play just described, the instructions include two excellent variations: Target Blitz, which puts 9 target-number cards face up on the table at a time for a more intense race, and Target Learn, which eliminates the race aspect by having players take turns. For 2 to 6 players!
